If someone told me I would be recording a song by Metallica, well let’s just say I didn’t expect this one! My sweetie heard it on the radio one day and said I had to do it. Written by James Hetfield but credited to both he and Lars Ulrich, this power ballad is arguably one of their best known and a staple at every show. Elton John called it one of the most powerful, beautiful songs ever written. Hetfield said that when he wrote this one, he was scared to bring it to the band as they were known as the “tough guys”, with “unpierceable armour”, afraid to show their softer side, but the band loved it.
