For me, this is the most iconic and epic song about Canadiana ever written. It was commissioned by the CBC television network to celebrate Canada’s centennial and was first broadcast on Jan 1, 1967. The song chronicles the building of the coast-to-coast Canadian Pacific Railway which was completed in 1886. While echoing optimism of the unifying railway, it also commemorates the nameless and forgotten navvies whose manual labour built the railway. This is a cover of “Canadian Railway Trilogy”.
