Michael Howitt

We’ve lost so many great musicians recently, including Meat Loaf just last week and his songwriting partner, Jim Steinman, last year. They recorded their “Bat Out of Hell” album in 1975 and 1976, but they had difficulty finding a record company willing to sign them. Meat Loaf stated in his autobiography that when CBS executive Clive Davis rejected the record he told him that actors don’t make records (he was in musical theatre at the time) and that Steinman didn’t know how to write songs for records. They finally got a record deal in 1977 and “Bat Out of Hell” went on to sell over 43 million albums worldwide, placing it in 4th place in all-time worldwide album sales. From that album, a cover of “Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad”.
