Alan Frew, lead singer for the Canadian group Glass Tiger, moved with his family from Scotland to Newmarket, Ontario when he was 16. The lyrics of this song from 1991 harken back to his days in his hometown of Coatbridge. The term “Scotia” refers to Scotland, as it was known by back in the Middle Ages. One of the lyrics references “Burlington Bertie”, a music hall song from 1900. A fellow Scot, Rod Stewart, accompanied Frew on the recording. A cover of Glass Tiger’s “My Town”.
