Al Stewart went to his record company in 1976 and asked them to release this song as the single from his new album. It was a hit in South Africa, but nowhere else in the world. “This was the beginning of the end of my ability to pick singles” Stewart later said. Fortunately for Stewart, the follow up single from the album, the title track “Year of the Cat” was a worldwide hit. This is a cover of the song Stewart thought would be a hit, “Sand In Your Shoes”.

Love your playing! Personally I have both Vinyl and CD of Al’s “Year of the Cat” which I think is one the best album of 70s.
