I was fortunate to see John Prine a few times, but the best was in Calgary with his best friend Steve Goodman opening. This is Steve Goodmanโ€™s โ€œSomebody Elseโ€™s Troubles.โ€ Bob Dylan played piano on the original recording under the pseudonym Robert Milkwood Thomas.

  1. Loved Steve Goodman
Great composer and fabulous guitar player
He hooked up with Jethro Burns of Homer and Jethro- at the end of his career and life
Jethro was a great jazz mandolin player although they were a country comedy duo
Jethro also was Chet Atkins brother in law
    They married twins !

    1. Goodman played mandolin too. When I saw him open for John Prine in Calgary in about 1982, Goodman played mandolin with John Prine for the encore. Jethro Burns was indeed a good player.

  2. Loved it. I’m a fan of Steve Goodman too.
I never knew the trivia about Dylan playing on that track.
    Thanks for posting it.
