This was one of the first songs written by the Barenaked Ladies in the late 80’s. It started off as an improvised song while Stephen Page and Ed Robertson were counsellors at a summer music camp. Robertson would play the tune, randomly listing amusing things he would buy with a million dollars. It developed into a “call and response”, with Robertson and Page continuing to improvise lyrics during their live acts. Keyboardist/guitarist Kevin Hearn has picked up Page’s role subsequent to his 2009 departure with the rest of the band chipping in. Minus the “response” vocal, this is a cover of “If I Had a Million Dollars”.
