John Loucks

“Glendale Train” is from the debut album by New Riders of the Purple Sage, their only studio album that included Jerry Garcia. NRPS regularly opened for Grateful Dead, and Garcia played in both bands, playing pedal steel and some banjo with NRPS. To my ear a lot of the country-rock bands that came out of California in the early 70s sound like bluegrass bands that have added drums and electric instruments.
