Michael Howitt

This Stephen Stills song is often considered an anti-war song, but he actually wrote it in response to curfew demonstrations which took place on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip in the latter half of 1966. His band, Buffalo Springfield, was the house band at a club there at the time. Local residences and businesses had lobbied LA County to pass a 10pm curfew to combat late-night crowds from the music establishments on the strip. Stills said the name of the song came about when he presented it to the record company, saying “I have this song here, for what it’s worth, if you want it”. This is a cover of Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth”
