    1. Just a drum machine – Alesis SR-18 – with a foot switch you can trigger fills and switch between an A and B variation of the pattern.

    1. They’re pretty easy to use. The foot switch adds a lot – the fills and switching back and forth between the A and B patterns give the drums some life. The fills and the two variations of each pattern stay in time automatically. Apparently it uses samples of real drums. I had an SR-16 for awhile, but picked up the SR-18 because it has a few useful patterns including at least one 3/4 pattern.
