This song was on Gordon Lightfoot’s 1975 “Cold on the Shoulder” album. Loosely based on the fictional Young Adult novel “When the Legends Die” by Hal Borland, the lyrics tell the story about the mistreatment of Indigenous people in North America. It especially rings true today in light of the discovery of the remains of 215 children on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. This is a cover of “Cherokee Bend”.
